HERE IS WHAT I’M GIVING AWAY TO ALL OF YOU WHO ENTER (YES, ALL!)
A book full of my very favorite holiday recipes
SO HERE’S THE BACK STORY
My friend and a really FABULOUS contributor to Uncooking 101 {Amber Shea ~ the Almost Vegan Chef ~ who is, just FYI, awesome to know ~ famous for her 5-minute dessert here} is doing This Thing I Love. It’s 12 days of giveaways. BRILLIANT, I tell you. I’m totally stealing her idea for several reasons.
- I love giving free stuff away. (Have ya looked at our recipe directory?!)
- I have two other really good excuses (see the other list below)
- I seriously love you guys (and gals, for those of you who don’t want to be called “guys”!)
- I have MORE than a dozen publishers with awesome cookbooks and uncookbooks, raw food companies that sell absurdly yummy treats, and chefs who have been asking me for ages if they can do a giveaway. Now is as good a time as ever!
AND MY TWO (OTHER) FAVORITE EXCUSES TO GIVE YOU FREE STUFF
- I don’t know if you heard, but even if you haven’t been bitten by the holiday bug and don’t celebrate this holiday or that… ’tis the season for giving and good cheer. I LOVE GIVING AND GOOD CHEER! lol!
- I want to celebrate the soon-to-be-finished (SERIOUSLY close but not done yet), way-on-steroids, absurdly amazing and potentially life-changing version of the home study course. Which will no longer just be a home study. And you will NOT find a shopping cart on the info page for the basis of what we’re giving away today, so don’t even try. The link is just there so you see how it USED to be. Which was already awesome even before the pumpin’ up (thanks to YOUR awesome feedback on your challenges with health and raw food, by the way).
SO, here’s what I’m doin’: Lots o’ free stuff. EVERY DAY for the next 12 days we’re looking at at least one giveaway every single day. But you KNOW I hate when there is a “loser”. (I’m so bad about this. I want to give away the farm. And I don’t even have a farm.) SO, EVERY DAY EVERYONE WILL GET SOMETHING FREE. Free recipes, free ebook, free gift certificate, SOMETHING free that is on some level of awesome.
The ABSOLUTE requirement to win any and/or contest is to be a subscriber of the DAILY emails set up for this purpose. (If you’re not sure if you’re a subscriber, just try to SUBSCRIBE IN THE BOX AT THE VERY BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE. If you enter your email and are already subscribed, a message will tell you so.)
TO BE CLEAR ABOUT YOUR EMAIL. BECAUSE I WANT YOU TO KNOW THIS IS NOT SOME CLEVER PLOY TO SELL YOUR EMAIL TO PIRATES!
- NO, I will NOT be doing daily emails year-round. (I wish I could, but I don’t think I can commit to that yet!)
- NO, I will NOT be marketing to you like crazy.
- NO, I will NOT be selling your data to pirates. Or anyone else for that matter.
Just to be really, really, really clear. But I do need a way of keeping track of this and communicating the giveaways and winners. Thus using the email list for the next 12 days.
PLEASE ANSWER THIS QUESTION FOR YOUR VERY FIRST ENTRY. THIS IS A REQUIRED ENTRY ~ EVERYTHING ELSE IS A BONUS.

{I also told my daughter to come over and enter}
This would be a lovely prize for me. Just starting to transition myself to a raw diet and can use all the help I can get to make my transition on a tight budget.
Anyways, to answer the question, I am very thankful for my very amazing nearly 2 year old son, that showers me with hugs and kisses every day.
I am thankful that in FEB when I found out I had 4 blockages in my heart that I learned about RAW and that by AUG when I went in for the procedure they had found that 2 had COMPLETELY DISAPPEARED!!!! So I got 1 stent and the other blockage hadn’t built up enough for one either so RAW is AWESOME!!!!!! So I am thankful for RAW!!!!! RAW saved my life and continues to save it!!!!!
It’s hard to quantify the things I’m thankful for in life, or how I came to “have” them, because they aren’t really “things”. I appreciate my car, having a place to live, etc, but mostly just because I recognize that I need them to survive, not because they provide me with more than that. I’m thankful for my job because it provides me with money, which fulfills my need for financial security, and provides me with means to have a car and a place to live. Then the car gets me to work so that I can keep my job and thus keep my car; a never ending cycle. As for how I came to have the job, I went to a good college and honestly didn’t work very hard, but did well. It all obviously started with me being born and raised, and supported (financially, emotionally, etc) by you. The “things” aren’t what I’m really thankful for though.
What I’m truly thankful for are the people I have in my life who love and support me unconditionally, and allow me to do the same for them. I’ve come to “have” them in several ways…some are family, like you, Missy, Aunt Jan, but most are friends, like Lexy and Michael. Family, I was lucky enough to be born into. Friends, I’ve “collected” along the way. I’ve stumbled into a surprisingly large group of amazing people being with Michael and have been able to forge friendships independently of Michael with some of them, like Ben (a man Michael went to school with in Eudora) and Faith (Jay’s girlfriend). Lexy and I happened on each other at Simmons because we were both friends with Desirae, my roommate (and still are). I’m thankful that when one of us screws up, no matter how large, the other is forgiving. I’m thankful to have people I don’t hesitate to call, even at 3 am, both in good times and bad. There are a lot of people you can call when things go wrong, and most of them will show up, and it says a lot about the people who do show up, but perhaps more about the people who don’t. I think the true friends are the ones that do show up when the shit inevitably hits the proverbial fan. I think the best true friends are the ones that you can call at 3 am, not because something is wrong, but because something is right. You wake up with some epiphany, or you’re just too happy about whatever to sleep, etc, and they aren’t upset that you woke them in the middle of the night even though nothing was wrong. They are the ones who are more excited for you than you are for yourself sometimes, because your happiness means so much to them.
I’m thankful to have enough joy in my life that I have reasons to call someone at 3 am because I can’t contain it myself any longer. I think, over all, I have an optimistic outlook, and that is part of the reason I have that much joy. As for how I got the optimistic outlook, its probably part “nature” and part “nurture”…I’m really not sure, but I’m thankful I do usually see the bright side of things. I’m thankful for my intelligence as I feel like it gives me the ability to appreciate more of what I encounter in the world, that goes back to the “nature” and “nurture”. I’m thankful that nearly everything I attempt is easy for me, that I’m a quick learner, that I don’t really ever have to “work” very hard at anything…though it is a double edged sword at times, since I tend to get easily frustrated when something isn’t easy. That goes back to the “nature” and “nurture” thing as well. I’m thankful that I’m very observant…I like that I notice things that other people miss…whether that be that the paint color match wasn’t exact, or that the secret ingredient in the recipe at the restaurant was tarragon. I have no idea how I came the be lucky enough to have that, but I feel like it helps me appreciate everything in life more, but especially the small things. I’m thankful for time…time to work, time to play, even time to waste. I’m thankful to have time to make memories. I think memories are the things that allow you to get through the bad times. They are the glue that hold relationships together. The actions are all over and done with, but the memories are still there. Right now, I’m sitting on the couch, in the living-room, with Peanut by me, and Michael outside, mowing the lawn…all the windows are open, and it’s PERFECT outside. I’m thankful for now…since yesterday is gone, and isn’t any more than a memory…and there is no promise of a tomorrow. I’m thankful for words…I know that sounds silly, but I am. I’m so thankful that I can express myself…not something I gave enough thought before working at DPI, and being a nurse in general. I am endlessly thankful that I can express myself, through words and actions, that I have both a sound mind and a healthy body to be able to do so. These aren’t things that I have an explanation for how I got them, but they are the things I’m most thankful for, them, and the people I have to share them with.
I share with people all the time that you are my favorite website for raw foods!!
I am most thankful right now for my amazing daughter…she gives me strength, power, and the motivation to succeed!
Im thankfull that my hubby, my 3 precious blossoms and me, we all are healthy and together! <3

Sent your banana recipe to multiple friends…! So simple and awesome!
For my daughter…for being lucky enough to live where I live and to have my little wonderful family…
I am most thankful for my wonderful boyfriend of 3 years of whom I have made my vegan lifestyle change with.
I am thankful that I am feeling hope. <3
I am most thankful right now for finally having a job again!
Having the opportunity to meet you, Eva! I was so glad to have attended your Raw Food Retreat at my favorite place, Martha’s Vineyard! I only wish I could have stayed longer. I love how you bare your soul about your life and raw food! This is what keeps be focused and looking to the next thing I want to do in the life of Raw Food. I look forward to your generosity of giving away some books, recipes, etc. for the 12 days as outlined above. Thank you so much for all your support and encouragement. It really brings such emotion and tears to my eyes!
You guys really make raw food seem so upbeat and awesome. I want to convert to this lifestyle so badly I cannot even begin to find the words to describe it. I know that converting would probably help improve my depression and anxiety, as well as provide an array of other awesome health benefits. It’s been very difficult to convert since I am a college student and lack cooking skills. I also find it ridiculously tough to fight the cravings I have for the bad foods, it’s literally like a drug. Hopefully when I can afford the kit, I will happily buy it and start my journey. Until then I must do my best to improvise. I just want to say thanks for giving me hope. I cannot wait for the day to come that I can eat these foods and turn away from all that processed junk.
I am most thankful for life itself and that each day is a new beginning… another start over… another chance to do better, to choose more wisely, to love more deeply and give more selflessly.
I am most thankful right now for….a job interview today that I have a good feeling about. I’m crossing my fingers that I get the job!
That my dog learned to walk again after his accident.
Life.
While I am thankful for many things, what I am thankful for first and foremost, now and always, is having my children in my life. My oldest, Ryan – dancer and empath, and the bravest person I know, Julian, my middle child, impossibly smart and terrible troublemaker, and the twins Nathan, cheeky and endearing, and Nolan, who deals with the struggles of autism with a perseverance that puts most adults to shame. All completely different, and yet each is absolutely perfect… and though I complain about them at times, I know I’ve got it good
I’m thankful for my home and for being lucky to be able to fly back for christmas this year and see my family all together. I’m so excited to see the ocean and go for runs in one of the running capitals of the world for the first time ever.
Oh, and I already follow you on FB.
I am most thankful for my family.
I’m most thankful for two very dear people in my life:
My husband who has been a big support while I have been recovering from a difficult series of events and My mom, who is my superhero and just recovered from a really rough hospital run-in post-op.
good luck on the job, holly!
(also… already ‘like’ you on facebook, share, etc.) ♥
Oh, I didn’t see the mandatory entry when I was here earlier – thanks for mentioning it on fb.
I’m most thankful for my dh. He has always supported me in being a stay at home mom, when it was feasible, when our girls were young. Now they are grown but live near so I’m thankful for that, and one of them has given us the most amazing granddaughter on the planet. LOTS to be thankful for! Thanks for the giveaway.
I am thankful my son is home safely for Christmas break, that he is happy to be home, and that my daughter and her daughter are here now for some good old fashioned family fun and festivities. I am thankful for those who serve in the armed forces who protect us every minute of every day so we can feel safe and enjoy the freedom they are fighting so hard for.
I am thankful that every where I go, and every Google search I do, I find and meet people who seem to be in my life for a purpose. Whether it is to help me in some way or for me to help them in some way – it feels like as long as we open our hearts to the fact that miracles happen every day, they happen.
We are all pieces to each other’s puzzle. For that, and many, many things, I am truly thankful.
Thank you Eva – for giving us all a chance to think about, and express, the many things we’re thankful for.
sharing is carrying.. Merry Chriistmas!!!
I just want the holiday recipes (although I’d almost bet I have them somewhere already…) – and I’m going to share this, but I want someone else to win because I ALSO like giving things away.
And at this very moment, I am most thankful for my Monkey, who works his tail off and tells me I can just lean on him and go whichever way the wind blows.
The thing that I am most thankful for is my life, not what it is filled with (which is wonderful), but that I am living and breathing this moment.
There are sooo many things I am thankful for but this very moment, I am thankful that I can work for myself, doing something I love! I am so thankful that it allows me more time to spend on my health and with my loved ones. It is awesome
A little back story is in order for what I’m thankful for so here goes.for starters I’m a stay at home mom of 2 and night student in the Medical Coding and Billing program…..Mid October I had an breast ultrasound because of a pain and small ball lump on my left breast. A week later I meet with the Breast Care Surgeon during this appointment I was told my ultrasound revealed nothing abnormal but he wanted to examine my neck. This kinda puzzled me because I had no pain there and even though I occasionally experienced difficulties swallowing and sore throats my thyroid levels had been checked by 2 different doctor’s in the 3 weeks surrounding my appointment but he said it was enlarged and it was just an ultrasound no big deal no pain involved so I figured why not. Went to the ultrasound and was called by my doctor to set up the biopsy again I say to myself ok no big deal it’s just a needle in my neck not much pain but enough that I missed church that night and went to bed early. From this point I was called on Veteran’s day this time to come in first thing Monday morning. Ok so now I’m freaking a little but I still know God is gonna take care of me and heal me whatever happens. I go that Monday morning and listen to my doctor say it’s not determinable to be or not to be cancer by the biopsy but your nodules are so large either way it must come out it will then go to pathology and we can determine from there if it’s cancer. I had my entire thyroid removed on November 30, 2011 on December 6, 2011 my doctor called and both nodules were cancer. Ok so that’s my back story here it what I am in this moment thankful for…..
I know that I know that I know God made it for my doctor to check my thyroid when two other didn’t even check it when I had told them more then this one problems that he didn’t know about that added together are symptoms of thyroid disfunctions and/or thyroid cancer. I am researching options but I am exhausted…I’m thankful because tonight I went to class the first time since before Thanksgiving break and spoke with my teacher and program director and I knew my teacher planned to work with me (by the way I’m thankful for a Christian teacher that has walked that same walk as me!) I was unsure if the director was going to. I am thankful to say she told exactly what I needed to hear! I can finish school while doing just whatever I can via email with my teacher and partial independent studies. Praise the Lord he has done it again! He takes care of me Great is His faithfulness He is my provider!
I am grateful for people like you who a willing to share their knowledge so others may learn.
I am most thankful for my kids, for being able to give them what they need and for living in a time and place where this kind of AMAZING information is available to us!
I’m subscribed to the emails too, and a fan on facebook
I’m thankful that my fibromyalgia is slowly going. It is mainly affected by all grains, but all this juicing i’m doing – i feel better within an hour of a green juice!
I am grateful at this very moment for forgiveness, compassion, and love.
I am thankful I was given the thrive diet book early this year and that his recipes were so bad that I went and started looking elsewhere for Raw vegan help!!! Had this book not fallen into my lap I would never have known about this way of life! I have not had one bite of animal protein since February and I have helped many other people try to incorporate more raw into their lifestyle.
Grateful for my health, my wonderful boyfriend, my dog who loves me bestest, my family & friends, old and new!
I’m thankful to be as healthy as I am today. It’s been a long year, full of successes and failures, which are nothing more than learning experiences. If anyone would have told me a year ago how drastically my life was about to change, I would have just laughed at them. I am so grateful to all the people out there who continue to share and educate about a healthy lifestyle and am especially grateful for you Eva, you always encourage me to just do my best and are such an inspiration! I’ve now been smoke free for over a year and cannot wait to be able to state how many days I’ve been truly raw!
I’m thankful that everyone in my immediate family is still breathing and relatively happy after the past couple years of a myriad of health problems. And I’m OVERWHELMINGLY grateful that I’m finally about to have a kitchen with more than 4 SF of counter space so I can dive into raw and quit dabbling
. Love all the information you share, Eva, and the energy you bring to it. You are a gift all by yourself! Merry Christmas!
Does it count that I liked you on FB a long time ago?

Totally!!
Totally!!
In my job as a nurse, I see many sick people. A lot of them have problems like me, what has been called irritable bowel syndrome and fibromyalgia. They get put on more and more pills but are sicker than ever. I’m so thankful I chose early on to pursue only natural means to fix my health.
I have subscribed to the email and I already like Uncooking 101 on Facebook.
Right now I am thankful for many things. I am thankful for my wonderful husband and our three cats to make me feel loved. During this Christmas season which celebrates the birth of Jesus, I can’t help but be thankful for my wonderful Savior Jesus Christ. With great mercy, He offered himself as a sacrifice to pay for all the evil nasty sinful things that I do. Without him, there would be no real LIFE. God the Father has given me all good and perfect gifts that I don’t deserve including my husband and 3 wonderful boys. Much love and Blessings to you all!
I am subscribed, and I am thankful for my dogs: one is curled up on my feet, the other behind my butt, both are keeping me nice and toasty right now! Thank you!

As a single mom and having lost my job in a second round of layoffs this year, I have been careful to be more thankful for all the important things! This has helped me to get through this! Right at this very moment, I am thankful for my sweet daughter who is sleeping here beside me. I am thankful for my precious kitten laying on my lap. I am thankful that I have found a new job and while life is still very much a struggle, I know it is going to be hard for a while but okay in the end. Thankful for friends and family that have offered me so much emotional support while I walked through this trial!

I am thankful to finally have taken control of my health in all ways- physical, mental, spiritual. I am by no means perfect, but that fact that I am committed to enhancing these aspects of my life is truly a blessing.
I guess I want to share what I was thankful for I didn’t read everything else I was supposed to do but I already liked you on Facebook
I am thankful for being able to breathe, for being able to think and be aware. I am thankful for having a wonderful support group of people who believe in me and my work, and try to help in ways they can, including good vibes. I am thankful for my warm bed at night, and the clothes on my back, for my family that they are smart and also give back to their community. I have much to be thankful for, and do every day.

This is your Facebook entry.
I have plenty of things to be thankful for, but I guess the main one is to have been rewarded with a second chance in life. Yes, I had a car accident and, yes, given the magnitude of the crash I should have died right there and then, but… The time hadn’t come for me and here I am, alive & kicking and trying to “adopt” a healthy lifestyle (as healthy as my own personal circumstances allow me!!)
Friend on Facebook.
I am thankful this very moment for my husband. He works so hard to support us so I can finish my schooling. He is extremely supportive of my farming dreams and all my weird healthy organic ways. He makes me laugh and picks me up when the world gets overwhelming. He is the kindest and most thoughtful man I have ever known.
This is your FB entry!
I’m currently on my campus and I’ve been having a rough day, just want to indulge in bad food. When I come here and I see how happy and in good spirits Eva is, it inspires me to just hang strong and stick to the healthy foods (or at least make a valiant attempt). Thank you for the positive vibes, guys. It’s keeping me strong..
I’m thankful my niece is thinking of eating raw food for her health and I just shared a link to your site to get her started in a bright and cheerful way.
I’d love to win this…I have never had any formal training and would love to have an opportunity to learn to un-cook the right way. :~)
I am thankful for being able to do what I love & for the love of my family & friends … & of course for you & all of my raw food friends! xox
I am tremendously thankful for people like you that are there to support & provide tools & awesome recipes for people on this transition to raw eating. I have never felt better in my life. In turn that allows me to be at my best for friends & family!!
PS-already a friend of FB
Already subscribed for emails and now a friend on Facebook.
What I am most thankful for is my beautiful family (3 gorgeous sons and husband).

What about my FB entry?
Hi! It was just before noon so I didn’t have time to explain! I saw that you mentioned Facebook (a bonus entry) but did not make it a separate comment. I wanted to make sure you had both entries in there just in case. I would feel awful if you missed out b/c of a little thing like that! That’s all! No big deal!
I already like you on FB!
thankful that in a holding season in life
I love your website. You are an inspiration to me on my raw food journey.
What a beautiful morning & shall enjoy trying one of your receipes for a party I’m off to later this afternoon! Happy Full Moon ~ ♥
I am thankful that I am alive and that I have a chance to learn and grow and LOVE everyday… I am also thankful for my lover and his willingness to accept me as I am… and help me make my dreams come true…
I am most thankful for my husband. He has followed me on my journey to being vegetarian, then vegan, and now into raw foods. He is the best! Your website is also on my “best” list. Thank you!
I’m thankful for my family, especially my first great-nephew who was born last January.
I already follow you on Facebook.
I follow you on fb and subscribe to the emails and am SO thankful for my son! He keeps me smiling, even in the darkest of days in the Alaskan winter.
I am thankful for the gift of life and health. I was not in such good condition this time last year! God is good!
I’m so thankful for my family and my health!
