Notes from Eva on Olive Aguas: I was only recently introduced to Olive via her Sacher Torte. It was love at first sight, and as a result I spent hours (no really, HOURS) perusing her blog and her recipes.
Her photography of the cities she visits makes me want to drop what I’m doing to go wherever in the world she just went. See, she’s from Oregon but is living in Germany so does quite a lot of travel throughout Europe. And she tells you about it from the perspective of a true adventurer, noting the quirky little details that make the places uniquely charming.
But here is the really cool thing for us raw foodies… When she visits a place, like Belgium for example, she doesn’t just visit Belgium. She soaks it in, she snaps amazing pictures, then she comes home and makes RAW Belgium chocolates in the style of Belgium! And then she GIVES US HER RECIPES with all the mouth-watering details on her blog.
So, now that I’ve discovered Olive’s blog, I’ve been alternating between wanting to travel to wherever she went and then when I’m finished with that desire, I want to stop what I’m doing (which is dreaming of the place she went) to make whatever treats she made. It’s a conundrum!
Prepare to be inspired friends!
A little side note: Olive discovered the raw food diet while living in Germany after gaining significant weight eating the standard German diet. The weight melted off (doesn’t she look gorgeous! Although I’m sure she already was…), as it so often does with raw. BUT obviously she is not depriving herself! Coming from a Filipino background (read: food is everything with family!) and with a father who is a chef, she was ready to jump into this raw food thing and create some magic.
We are so incredibly excited she has shared so many recipes with us!
