If you read Chocolate + Chipotle and furrowed up your eyebrows, relax. These won’t hit you too hard. Now if you want them to be CRAZY spicy, sure, go ahead and double the chipotle.
I dare you.
Otherwise, man, these were a HIT when I made them!
Makes 4 1 1/2″ brownie squares
INGREDIENTS (STEP 1)
1/4 cup cashews
1/4 cup walnuts
1-2 Tbsp coconut crystals or date sugar
1 Tbsp cacao powder
1/4 tsp chipotle powder
INGREDIENT (STEP 2)
5 medjool (or moist, fresh) dates
INGREDIENTS (STEP 3)
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
pinch finely ground sea salt
cacao nibs (for garnish)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Food process only the cashews, walnuts, coconut sugar, cacao powder and chipotle powder until they are a powder almost like the consistency of the coconut crystals or like brown sugar.
- Add the dates, one at a time. Make sure to remove the pit first!
- Finally, add the vanilla and salt.
- Shape into brownies, top with cacao nibs.
