Sooo… Baby is here (and I will share the birth story minus the gory bits and plenty about diet soon!)… and momma (that’s me!) is mostly resting but feeling quite recovered considering. Definitely have some sore spots, but my mind and spirit are back in high gear.
This morning Carlos made me the drink that I am craving more than ANYTHING else, and I want to share it with you. The amazing thing is, everything about this simple drink and its curative properties, makes PERFECT sense to drink it now! (I chose to go the fully natural route and did not have pain medicines at all, including over-the-counter medicines like Motrin… so between the pain relief, healing, and sexual health, I’m AMAZED at how cool the body is that this is what I’ve been craving most!!)
INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 medium-large pineapple (INCLUDING THE CORE, which may need to be chopped up well if your blender is not powerful!)
- about 20 fresh mint leaves
- 2 cups ice
- 1 1/2 cups water
- optional: 1 banana for sweetness
INSTRUCTIONS
- Just, blend!
- Note: This is more like a juice in the end, BUT I wanted all the fiber so definitely did not strain it!
WHY IT’S AWESOME
- Mint: helps to improve digestion (peppermint tea is great for this too!), rich in a wide variety of minerals and in antioxidants, great for the skin, bad breath, and relieving minor aches and pains.
- Pineapple: contains something called bromelain which is a natural pain reliever, but on top of that just ONE CUP of pineapple has more than 100% of the minimum recommended manganese for the day. What does manganese do? Amongst other things, it is FABULOUS for overall sexual and reproductive health.

Raw pineapple also contains powerful compounds that counteract those awful afterpain cramps. I craved it like nothing else after birthing.
