This awesome hummus recipe comes to us from {Natalia KW}. If you need a little something yummy to fill you up that is rich but yet won’t make you feel “stuffed” or “heavy” this is PERFECT for a snack OR a meal with some chopped up veggies. I love that the ingredients are easy to find and inexpensive, and it’s so easy to make. There’s nothing I can think of that is NOT to love about this one!
NOW, I’m warning you… when I make my hummus I need to use a bit less garlic… but the way Natalia makes it is more like the traditional hummus. Just keep that in mind! The other thing is, when I make my own hummus, I also like to {make my own sesame tahini} and then when I’m finished to just go ahead and add in the other ingredients so I only wash the blender or food processor once. And that way, I don’t have to source out the more expensive and less fresh store-bought tahini. Just sharing in case that helps!
makes 3 cups
INGREDIENTS
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 1/2 cups raw sunflower seeds, soaked for 4-6 hours in pure water, drained and rinsed well
- 1/2 cup raw sesame tahini
- 1/2 cup lemon juice
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup water
- 3/4 teaspoon Himalayan salt
- olive oil, paprika and/or parsley to garnish, if desired
INSTRUCTIONS
Place garlic cloves in the food processor fit with the s-blade. Process to chop finely. Add all remaining ingredients (except garnishes) and process until smooth. Scrape into a bowl, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with paprika and chopped parsley.
