{why vegan} Think you’re not harming anyone with dairy milk? Think again! Mastitis in cows? Common, Disgusting.

I warn you now. This video is not for the faint of heart. And I sincerely doubt many people can think through the facts I posted below, coupled with the very vivid reality here, and enjoy dairy ever again.

Information from Wikipedia regarding Mastitis in Dairy Cows:

  • “This disease costs the US dairy industry about 1.7 to 2 billion USD each year.” [Note from Eva. Think: If it's that expensive, it's that common.]
  • “This potentially fatal mammary gland infection is the most common disease in dairy cattle in the United States.”
  • On top of it, several resources indicated that after treatment, these cows can continue to be used for milk!

So what does this mean?

It means, unless you are raising and milking your own animals, you have no way of knowing whether the milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, dairy creamer, or any other dairy product was affected in some way by this disease.

It also means, that because this disease is so rampantly common, that just consuming commercial dairy products is contributing to the truly disgusting diseases dairy cows face. They feel pain too. They are not machines, even though we attach machines to them to collect the milk that would have been used for their baby cows. Aka calves. Aka VEAL ~ the expensive and sought-after meat from calves who were killed so the momma cow could continue providing humans the milk from another species.

Truly shocking when you think about it all.

Love to you for taking the time to see this and think about it! If I had seen this years ago, I may have never had milk from that moment forward. I know now there will simply never be an exception. There can’t be. I can’t have this blood on my hands!
