The first stepsThis drink is getting to be nearly as famous as the “green smoothie” recipe made famous by Victoria Boutenko and others. I’ve heard about it many times, and Stacy (the creator of the drink) is even a friend!

Yet this is my first time making it by her official recipe (find it BELOW or find the “Happy Shake” recipe on Stacy Stowers .com). We followed everything exactly! You can see the first part in the picture at left. We did NOT add the frozen blueberries until after the first step. Much better for the coconut oil, which would not have blended well if we’d not followed her recipe exactly!The SludgeYou can see the sludge from the instructions at right.

INSANE just how small it became and how strangely “yucky” looking (just being honest) but yeah, super cool at the same time. This would be fun for kids I’m sure!! Especially if using Popeye as an example, or The Giant Green Monster or something. Ha! Maybe not… just guessing!

In the end, you can easily eat it with a spoon like I did or you can drink it like a super-thick shake. I can’t even believe that I just had THAT much spinach AND greens AND maca AND cacao AND coconut oil AND blueberries all at once in so little time.

The Happy Shake! by Stacy StowersHere’s the thing, though… This is coming from someone who is not a fan or foe of powdered foods… and from someone who drinks the more traditional “green smoothie” recipe daily… I was surprised (but not shocked) to find that this did not give me any more energy than my usual green drink.

So for those of you out there who don’t have easy access to maca + coconut oil + cacao powder + green powder, please don’t be discouraged. BUT if you do have access to this, it’s super fun to make and drink, and I *do* feel good from it. Just not better than my usual green smoothie powered from fresh kale and such.

Separately… for someone unwilling to drink a green drink, this may very well be just the solution!

All right! Onward to the recipe!!


  1. The BASE 1/2 cup liquid. Start with less liquid and add more as needed. Options include water, juice, nut milk. It’s your choice.
  2. GREENS 4 cups of Greens. Use a mild tasting green like spinach. Save the kale for a nice kale salad.
  3. A GOOD FAT 1 Tbs. Coconut Oil or 2 Tbs. Hemp Seed. Good fat won’t make you fat and is essential for metabolizing the spinach and keeping you satisfied.
    1 Tbs. Maca Powder This is for stamina, endurance and mental clarity.
    1 Tbs. Raw Cacao Powder Raw chocolate is actually a valuable potent super food loaded with nutrients and neuro-peptides very simular to the ones our bodies create when we are falling in LOVE!
    1 Tbs. of a super GREEN RAW powder GREEN is highly alkalizing. This is essential for weight management and longevity! Vitamineral Green is my current favorite.
  5. MOST IMPORTANT and a crucial step in creating your “Happy Shake”. DO NOT add fruit here. Blend your first 4 steps into a green “SLUDGE”.
  6. Now you can add your FROZEN fruit (2-2 1/2 cups) Blueberries, blackberries, cherries, strawberries, raspberries and bananas.
    Note: The BLUEberries are important for getting the chocolatey brown color. So use plenty of the BLUES!!!


  • A NOTE on Super Foods Super Foods like Maca and Cacao are very powerful foods. These foods border medicine. This is a good time to do your own research on these two amazing foods. Start in small doses and listen to your body.
